New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (March 25) chaired a cabinet meeting at his residence, where he, along with other council of ministers could be seen following the social distancing norms, a preventive measure for the COVID-19. In the meeting, the leaders could be seen sitting at a safe distance of at least two meters. This came a day after a complete lockdown for 21 days was imposed across the country as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to urge everyone to follow social distancing like the Ministers. He tweeted a picture from the meeting along with the text,

Social distancing is need of the hour. We are ensuring it… Are you?

The Prime Minister had last evening (March 24) announced a ‘total lockdown’ across the country, asking people to “forget about stepping out of their homes” for the next three weeks. Novel coronavirus or COVID-19 is a highly infectious virus and was declared as a ‘global pandemic’ by the World Health Organisation. More than 18,000 people have lost their lives to COVID-19 around the world. In India, as of March 25 (4:50 pm), the Ministry of Health and Family welfare has reported 562 cases along with 9 deaths.
