NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India has been on its own mission to find the Swachh Warriors – those who have, single-handedly, made a difference in making India cleaner.
Meet our first Swachh Warrior – Abhishekh Sharma, who is a 28 year old cyclist. Why he has been chosen as one of Banega Swachh India’s warriors is because this man travelled across India in his cycle to spread the message of Swacchta.
To make his contribution to the cause of Swachh Bharat – a mission started by our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Abhishek travelled across the country to understand the core issues which are becoming a hindrance in achieving the pinnacle goal of the initiative.
“I feel the biggest problem is the mindset of the people. Nothing else is responsible for making India dirty; it’s we who are responsible for polluting our country. 1.25 crore people in our country are responsible for this situation,” says Abhishek.
Naming his journey the ‘The Uncertain Journey Across India, Cycling For Change,’ Abhishek has gave himself 13 months of time to educate and spread the message of cleanliness to everyone he meets along the way.
Starting his Swachh-mission journey at Farooqabad, an important city in Sheikhupura District, Punjab, Pakistan,
Abhishek stopped at schools, colleges and universities to provide lectures on Swachhta. Before breaking his journey in Delhi, Abhishek met the highest levels of authority concerned regarding the maintenance of cleanliness in the country.
Through this long journey, Abhishek further assisted on the ongoing Swachhta mission which, too, aims at changing the mindsets of the people while at the same time making a difference on a national level.
If you know a person who has done a lot to make India clean and healthy then nominate that person now for Banega Swachh India’s Swachh Warrior.
