Three Years Of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: India Gives A Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi, Pledges Support ToSwachhata Hi Seva Campaign

The government launched a nation-wide, fortnight-long sanitation campaign on September 25 to mark the three years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s flagship cleanliness initiative Swachh Bharat Mission. The 15-day initiative, named ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ (Cleanliness is Service) was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his monthly radio programme – Mann Ki Baat, last month and was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind from Ishworiganj village in Kanpur on September 25. In its 15 days the campaign saw active participation from celebrities like Anushka Sharma and Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Many others like Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, members of women’s cricket team, football team have come out in support of the initiative.
