New Delhi: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, who is currently being treated for COVID-19 in Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital, shared a message of gratitude and appreciation for healthcare workers on his social media handles on Tuesday (July 14). In his message, which was posted in Hindi and English, Mr. Bachchan called the healthcare workers incarnations of God who embrace people with their care and fly the flags of humanity.

The Megastar tweeted:

Pristine white their layered dress, dedicated to serve they be, god like incarnations they, companions of the sufferer they, erased they their ego have, to us they have embraced in care, they be the divine destination, they fly the flags of humanity

Mr. Bachchan along with his actor-producer son Abhishek Bachchan was tested positive for coronavirus on July 11. The next day, his immediate family members daughter-in-law and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya were also tested COVID-19 positive while his wife actor turned politician and Member of Parliament, Jaya Bachchan tested negative.

Immediately after the actor’s diagnosis, testing of staff members, contact tracing and sanitisation activities were initiated. The social media handles of Bollywood’s forever ‘angry young man’ were soon flooded with messages and wishes for the family’s speedy recovery. Thanking his fans for all the love and wishes, Big B wrote to them from the Hospital’s COVID ward,

Prayers and wishes of well-being, come to me like the torrential unstoppable rain… This bond of love has broken the banks of containment.. Swept away.. I have been drenched in this immense love. The darkness of my lonely solitude is illuminated. My individual gratitude shall I never be able to express. On bended knee do I bow my head before you.

He further tweeted that individually thanking everyone was not possible but he was touched by the outpouring of love.

Fans of Mr. Bachchan in Kolkata have organised “mahamritunjay yagna”, which they said would continue till the Bollywood superstar and his family recover from COVID-19.

According to Dr Abdul Samad Ansari, the head of critical care in Nanavati hospital, Mr. Bachchan is clinically stable and does not require aggressive treatment.
