Ministry Of Urban Development Launches ‘Toilet Karenge Search, Toilets Rakhenge Swachh’ Campaign

In a bid to fight sanitation crisis, the Ministry of Urban Development launched a service in which Delhiites will be able to review the cleanliness standards of public toilets through Google Toilet Locator

New Delhi: Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) announced the launch of the ‘Toilet Karenge Search, Toilets Rakhenge Swachh’ campaign, supported by Reckitt Benkiser. The current phase is launched in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi NCR.  To further step up to a new level of improving ‘ease of access to public toilets’, Google maps will help locate the nearest public toilet and once you use the toilet, you can rate and review it too. Praveen Prakash, Joint Secretary, MoUD was happy that corporates are coming forward,

I am thankful to Dettol and Google but appeal that more organizations need to come forward and align their efforts with the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission to make India Open Defecation Free by 2019.

Sharing insights on this initiative, Rohit Jindal, Director Marketing, RB India, said, “A simple act of using a public toilet and providing feedback would help ensure better hygiene for our fellow citizens.”

The next initiative is to develop smart toilets across the country under the ambit of Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission.

The smart toilet has many more facilities to offer like a water ATM, vending machines for snacks and sanitary napkins, ATM and a health clinic. Naresh Kumar, Commissioner, NDMC said that, with all the facilities in this toilet, it’s not only a toilet but a complete hygiene centre.

So next time you need to use a toilet, just locate one closest to you on Google maps and who knows it may just be a smart toilet.
