New Delhi: In the light of Coronavirus, actor Akshay Kumar has shot a public service announcement (PSA) to create awareness about the Novel Coronavirus. Through the PSA, the actor is giving out a simple message – don’t be scared of Coronavirus and asks people to move on with life while taking all the precautions. The one and a half minute advertisement that released on Tuesday (June 2) shows Akshay in a village setting, coming across a neighbour who asks him why he has ventured outdoors as soon as the lockdown was lifted.

The neighbour very categorically tells that though the lockdown has been lifted, Coronavirus is still there. To this, Akshay playing the role of a villager Bablu tells that he’s not leisure walking rather going to work.

“Aren’t you afraid you will catch the virus?” the neighbour asks. “Initially I was afraid, but then I learned that if one takes precautions, it’s unlikely to catch a virus,” Akshay responds.

Following this, the actor lists out precautionary measures one should take to fight with the COVID-19 and lead on with life. Highlighting the importance of wearing a face mask and other precautionary measures, the actor says,

The most important thing is a face mask. At work, I’ll wear a mask at all times. I’ll wash my hands at frequent intervals and practise social distancing by maintaining 2 gaj ki doori (six feet apart) from others. This way, I’ll protect myself, my family and others from contracting the virus.

The actor goes on to say that when healthcare and sanitation staff is fighting COVID-19 and risking their lives daily, then it’s our responsibility to do our work. He also suggests that there is nothing to worry if one gets infected with COVID-19 for two reasons – firstly, thousands of people have defeated the virus and recovered from COVID-19 and secondly, the government has made adequate arrangements to treat patients.

This is no time to worry, it’s the time to support and motivate each other, says Akshay.

Akshay’s words motivate his neighbour to get back to work but with full precautions that are wearing a mask the correct way – that covers the nose and mouth, washing hands and practising social distancing.

Akshay ends the PSA with a message,

We will have to continue our fight against COVID-19 by not being scared of it but by taking precautions. Carry on with your life. Make the country self-sufficient.
