The government launched a nation-wide, fortnight-long sanitation campaign on September 25 to mark the three years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's flagship cleanliness initiative Swachh Bharat Mission. The 15-day initiative, named 'Swachhta Hi Seva' (Cleanliness is Service) was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his monthly radio programme - Mann Ki Baat, last month and was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind from Ishworiganj village in Kanpur on September 25.
