New Delhi: “Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will now connect the digital health solutions of hospitals across the country with each other. Under this, the countrymen will now get a digital health ID. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission includes Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) previously known as Health ID, Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR). Let’s take a look at each component.

What Is A Health ID?

Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) aims at creating India’s digital health ecosystem. ABHA allows you to create digital health records for yourself and your family and access and share them digitally. ABHA is a randomly generated 14 digit number used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with their informed consent) across multiple systems and stakeholders.

How To Create ABHA?

You can get ABHA by self-registration on the ABHA web portal or by downloading the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Health Records application from the Google Playstore. You can also request for creation of your ABHA at a participating health facility, which may include public or private hospitals, community health centre and health and wellness centres across India.

You can create ABHA either through Aadhaar or mobile number or a driving license. If you use your Aadhaar Number to create your ABHA on the ABHA portal, one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Registration through a mobile number or Aadhaar takes less than 10 minutes.

Remember, in the case of driving license, after submitting your details you will get an enrolment number which you will have to take to a nearby participating facility to get ABHA.

Create Your ABHA Through Mobile Number

1. Enter your mobile number and verify it using an OTP to proceed.
2. Fill in your details including name, date of birth, and gender.
3. Create your PHR (Personal Health Records) Address, a self-declared username that is required to sign into a Health Information Exchange & Consent Manager (HIE-CM). Currently, all ABHA users can generate their own PHR Address during ABHA sign-up.
4. Create a password and add your state and district.
5. On clicking the ‘submit’ button, your ABHA will be created and you will be intimidated through an SMS on your mobile number. You can also download your ABHA card from the website.

What Is The Purpose Of ABHA (Health ID)?

Picture this: Working in a factory in the national capital Delhi, Prateek who hails from a remote village in Bihar, meets with an accident. He is rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctor asks for his medical records. Apparently, all his documents are back in his village. Under such a scenario, a patient is asked to take all essential tests again which obviously adds to the medical cost and is time-consuming resulting in delayed treatment.

Here comes the role of ABHA or Health ID which will contain details of every test, every disease, the doctors visited, the medicines taken and the diagnosis. Since the information is stored digitally, it can be made available anytime, anywhere.

What Is Healthcare Professionals Registry?

Healthcare Professionals Registry is a repository of all healthcare professionals involved in the delivery of healthcare services across both modern and traditional systems of medicine. The Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) is a bridge built by Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to connect healthcare workers with patients.

Since doctors do not advertise in newspapers, it is only through word of mouth that one gets to know about a good doctor. Now all the information of the doctors regarding their specialty, the nearby doctors, where to reach immediately will be available, PM Modi had said.

As part of HPR, verified healthcare professionals can treat patients remotely through telemedicine and review digital health records.

What Is Health Facility Registry?

Health Facility Registry (HFR) is a comprehensive repository of health facilities of the country across different systems of medicine. It includes both public and private health facilities including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centers, pharmacies, among other.

As of April 5, 2022, 21.18 crore ABHA numbers have been created, 24,390 health facilities and 11,645 doctors have registered themselves.

NDTV – Dettol have been working towards a clean and healthy India since 2014 via Banega Swachh India initiative, which is helmed by Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan. The campaign aims to highlight the inter-dependency of humans and the environment, and of humans on one another with the focus on One Health, One Planet, One Future – Leaving No One Behind. It stresses on the need to take care of, and consider, everyone’s health in India – especially vulnerable communities – the LGBTQ populationindigenous people, India’s different tribes, ethnic and linguistic minorities, people with disabilities, migrants, geographically remote populations, gender and sexual minorities. In wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the need for WASH (WaterSanitation and Hygiene) is reaffirmed as handwashing is one of the ways to prevent Coronavirus infection and other diseases. The campaign will continue to raise awareness on the same along with focussing on the importance of nutrition and healthcare for women and children, fight malnutrition, mental wellbeing, self care, science and health, adolescent health & gender awareness. Along with the health of people, the campaign has realised the need to also take care of the health of the eco-system. Our environment is fragile due to human activity,  that is not only over-exploiting available resources, but also generating immense pollution as a result of using and extracting those resources. The imbalance has also led to immense biodiversity loss that has caused one of the biggest threats to human survival – climate change. It has now been described as a “code red for humanity.” The campaign will continue to cover issues like air pollutionwaste managementplastic banmanual scavenging and sanitation workers and menstrual hygiene. Banega Swasth India will also be taking forward the dream of Swasth Bharat, the campaign feels that only a Swachh or clean India where toilets are used and open defecation free (ODF) status achieved as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, can eradicate diseases like diahorrea and the country can become a Swasth or healthy India.
